Karachi: PPP activist shot dead
KARACHI: Violence continued in the city on Thursday as a Pakistan People’s Party activist was among the four people killed in separate incidents reported on Thursday. Thirty-two-year-old Nazish, information secretary of the PPP’s PS–95 Youth Wing, was shot dead by armed motorcyclists in the Zia Market of Orangi Town. Sub–Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Waheed Khan of the Pakistan Bazaar Division confirmed that the victim was an activist of the ruling party and also resided in the same area as he was gunned down.
The injured was first taken to the Aga Khan Hospital and later there were reports that he was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). Khan added that there were also reports that the victim succumbed to his injuries, but he could not confirm.
Investigators termed the incidents a targeted attack and added that the criminals used a 9mm pistol in the offence. The police had sent the empty shells to the forensic division of the Sindh Police.
Police said Nazish had earlier survived two attacks in the last two months.
Trouble was witnessed in the Pakistan Bazaar area after the murder as armed men forced traders to close their place of business.
