Chiniot: 30 booked for firing at mosque
CHINIOT: Following a protest rally and a sit-in particularly attended and addressed by MPA MaulanaIlyasChinioti, the divisional administration has registered a case against 30 people for attacking and shooting at a mosque in the city. Earlier, Regional Police Officer AftabCheema and other district officers held dialogues with the MPA regarding sectarian clashes in Chiniot. Addressing a congregation at Siddiq Akbar Masjid, MaulanaChinioti said that the divisional administration had agreed to fulfill the demands of the Sunni Action Committee and the committee has decided to postpone agitation against the government. He said that the police had registered a case against the accused nominated for firing on the mosque.
His demands included an action against the DPO and the cops who desecrated the mosque and release of the youth who were booked under 7 ATA some three weeks ago.
On the other side, the police have registered a case against 350 protesters under Terrorism Act for holding a rally, staging a sit in and delivering inflammatory speeches at Khatm-e-NubuwwatChowk.
The City police booked 100 nominated and 250 unknown accused including the central leadership of Sunni Action Committee MaulanaIdreesChinioti, MaulanaSanaullah, BadarAlam, brothers of PML-N MPA MaulanaIlyas, traders Haji JameelFakhri, Sheikh AlamgirMastan, Saleem Sheikh, Nadeem Sheikh, Mohammad Saleem, IntezarJatt, Aslam Jatt, Maulana Abdul Waris, Tariq Dar, Sajid Dar, QariAyub, Sheikh NaseemElahi, QariYamin under 9 ATA, 295 A, 147′ 283, 290 and 293 for holding the protest rally.
