Lahore: PHP arrests 11 culprits
LAHORE: The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) claimed on Sunday to have recovered a snatched car, and arrested 11 people for possessing illegal firearms and narcotics. The accused were identified as Muhammad Shareef, Muhammad Bilal, Tariq, Altaf Hussain, Irshad Ahmad, Khawar Abbas, Idrees Ahmad, Qasim, Muhammad Imran, Walayat Ali, Muhammad Khalid, Javed Akhter and Hasnain Aslam. A car, pistols, live cartridges, bullets, narcotics and other stolen valuables were recovered from their possession. The arrested men have been handed over to the Investigation Wing of the district police for further action.
Also, N-5 Central Zone DIG Rai Altaf Hussain said on Sunday that the National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) was concentrating on educating the coming generation about road safety rules and traffic laws, so that we may see better and disciplined drivers on roads in future
Inspecting the performance of the Mobile Education Unit, the DIG directed the officers concerned to ensure maximum visits to educational institutions as per special direction of IG Zafer Abbas Lak since these children were future drivers.
The DIG expressed his satisfaction on the performance of the Mobile Education Unit after inspecting appreciation letters of different national and multinational companies, transport companies, renowned educational institutions, government and semi-governmental institutions, etc.
The DIG further directed the officers concerned to take active part in all the campaigns launched by the N-5 Central Zone. He also stressed the need for educating motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians and drivers of slow-moving vehicles because these road users were involved in most of the accidents on highways. The DIG also paid rich tributes to three officers – SPOs Qasim, Adnan Gul and Imtiaz Hussain – who laid down their life in the line of duty and advised other officers to show similar enthusiasm in educating the road users.
