Nankana Sahib: Dacoits take away police van, loot people
NANKANA SAHIB: Three dacoits snatched a police mobile van from the officials of the Bara Ghar police and looted several people in Faisalabad on Thursday night. ASI Riaz and two policemen intercepted the bandits during patrol near Kumharan Bridge. However, the bandits snatched the van and mobile phones from the policemen and fled towards Syedwala Town. No policemen stopped them when they crossed the Hakamwala police picket near Ali Judge Bungalow. AbdurRehman, a constable of the Jaranwala City police, was going to Jaranwala after performing his duty. He signalled the van for a lift, but the bandits opened fire at him. As a result, he was seriously injured.
The dacoits reached the NawanMeel area of the Faisalabad’s Lundianwala police station and looted Rs 55,000 and mobile phones from five people, including Akram, Zahid and Ashraf. Later, they snatched a car and Rs 100,000 from Ihsan near Makoana and left the police van.
The Faisalabad police informed the Nankana police about their vehicle, which was brought back from there. No case was registered till the filing of this report. When contacted, the Bara Ghar police claimed that they had intercepted three bike riders near Chak No 2, but they opened fire on them. They said that the fire was retaliated, but the bandits managed to escape on the police van. They said that they had taken back the vehicle from the bandits after an encounter in the Faisalabad area.
