Okara: Accused says barber blackmailed his daughter
OKARA: “I am a poor labourer but the media has made me a landowner,” said Mian Khan, an accused of gouging out the eyes and chopping the nose and tongue of a barber. Talking to newsmen in Depalpur City police lockup in the presence of his son Javed, who is also an accused in the case, Mian Khan said: “I do not own even an inch of land anywhere in the country. I earn bread by grinding floors. It is the media that has made me an influential landowner.” Expressing his unhappiness with media, he said it was the media that with its incomplete reporting helped Rs 500,000 in grant to barber Yousaf by the chief minister. He said: “Devils like Yousaf do not deserve any mercy.” Mian Khan said that his integrity could not bear Yousaf’s three-year long blackmailing any further. He said that the last call of Yousaf to his daughter Mukhtaran Bibi alias Mukho was a warning that if she did not come to meet him, he would make her nude photographs public.
Responding to a question that was it not better if he had murdered Yousaf instead of the violence, Mian Khan said that had he murdered Yousaf people would have forgotten his devilment after his burial. Now, not only he (Yousaf), but also all evil-minded people will keep it in their minds what consequences devilment could bring to them. He said that he had surrendered himself to police after they arrested his two innocent daughters.
Only Ali Sher, one of the six accused, has denied his involvement in the incident. ATC Court No–3 Judge Irfan Ahmad Saeed had granted seven-day physical remand of the accused to police. The police had recovered all weapons used in the incident.
