Rawalpindi: Doctor receives threats
RAWALPINDI: A local doctor has been receiving life threats on his phone since Friday from a militant group who are demanding Rs100 million from him, police said. The caller identified himself as one of the members of ‘KaleemullahMehsood’ group and gave his name as Latif Khan. Doctor Hamid Hassan is the son of retired general, doctor Mehmood–ul–Hassan. After getting the threat call, Dr Hamid Hassan, who runs a private clinic at Peshawar Road, sought the help of local police and lodged an FIR against the culprit.
He said in his complaint that the caller said he would be killed if the money was not arranged within 72 hours. The police have registered an FIR and started investigations. Preliminary investigation suggested that the telephone call was made from Khyber Pakhtunkhawa. However, the caller didn’t give the name of the place where the money was to be delivered.
