Karachi: 11 suspected extortionists arrested
KARACHI: The District West police on Tuesday arrested 11 people allegedly involved in drug peddling and extortion during a raid on their hideout near Faqeer Colony in Orangi Town. Police also recovered 10 TT pistols, one shotgun and six kilograms chars from the detained, which are believed to be part of the Razaq Commando Group. The criminals opened fire on Mominabad police personnel as they were surrounding the hideout. The police retaliated and after a brief encounter arrested Muhammad Arif Ramzan, Waheer, Sajid and Faisal, who were found in possession of five TT pistols and four kilograms of hasish.
In an another encounter the Saeedabad police arrested Arif Disco, Siraj Gul, Gul Muhammad, Sabir Khan, Aliullah and Abdul Rehman near Bismillah Chowk and recovered five TT pistols, one shotgun and two kilograms of hashish from their possession.
The SHO Saeedabad Chaudhry Mohammed Irshaad told The News the accused were wanted for a number of crimes including land grabbing, extortion and drug peddling.
