Lahore: Accused in Kh Sharif conspiracy case granted bail
LAHORE: A Special Judge (Central) on Wednesday granted interim bail by September 7 to former secretary to the Punjab CM, Dr Tauqeer Shah and two others accused in murder–conspiracy case of former chief justice Khwaja Mohammad Sharif. On Wednesday, the counsel of the accused argued before the court that his clients had nothing to do with the conspiracy of the murder of former chief justice Khwaja Mohammad Sharif. The counsel said that his clients were implicated in the case only on political grounds. He said that his clients were willing to cooperate with investigation team of the case and would join the investigation, imploring the court to grant interim bail to his clients.
On this, the court granted interim bail to the accused, including Dr. Tauqeer Shah and Staff Officer Talha, by September 7. The FIA had registered the case on the federal government’s directives under section 302 (premeditated murder).
DG Civil Defence, Punjab, Ahsanul Rehman, director special branch Punjab Shahid Mehmood and an activist of Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML–N) were also nominated in the case. The nominated were accused of creating a rift between the federal, provincial governments and the judiciary by spreading rumors.
