ISLAMABAD: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) foiled bid to smuggle heroin to England and arrested two accused at Benazir Bhutto International Airport here on Saturday. According to details, the ANF officials during search of the baggage of two passengers, who were leaving for England through a PIA flight, recovered 25 kilogram of heroin.
CHAKWAL: The Dhudial police arrested eight gamblers from Saral village and recovered Rs 23,690 and three mobile phones put at stake. On a tip-off, Sub-Inspector Mazhar Hussain raided a kiln and arrested Shahnawaz, Rasool Bukhsh, Nasir Abbas, Ghulam Qasim, Riaz Hussain, Abdul Majeed, M Saleem and Munir Ahmed. A case has been registered against the gamblers.
KARACHI: A sessions court sentenced on Friday a policeman to five years in prison in an attempted murder case. Mohammad Ibrahim, a constable in the Muhafiz force, was found guilty of making an attempt on his cousin Haleema’s life in October 2007 in Korangi. The district and sessions judge (east), Tariq Mehmood Khoso, who conducted the trial in the judicial complex (central prison), pronounced the judgment after recording evidence of witnesses and final arguments from both sides.
LAHORE: South Cantonment police have recovered a 12-year-old boy and arrested the kidnapper nine days after the incident. Talking to reporters on Friday at his office, Cantonment SP (Investigation) Fida Husain said that accused Nauman of Goha Wala had demanded a girl for the safe release of the kidnapped boy.
RAWALPINDI: The Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF) on Thursday recovered seven kg heroin from a car in Saddar and arrested two persons. The consignment was being smuggled to Spain. Acting on a tip-off, a raiding party of ANF intercepted a car on the Bank Road and recovered the heroin concealed in the cavities of a brief case and arrested Abdul Wahab and Daud Khan. The authorities said the arrested persons were in fact ‘drug carriers’ who were to hand it over to another person to smuggle the narcotics to Spain. The ANF raids were continuing to arrest the other person who was to travel tonight from Islamabad.
ISLAMABAD: Sabzi Mandi Police Station on Thursday conducted search operation in its respective jurisdiction including slum areas and nabbed 50 suspects, a police spokesman said. In the search operation, 50 suspects were arrested, who could not produce any document for their identification. A team of Sabzi Mandi police station headed by ASP Industrial Area Dr Khalil Ahmed including Station House Officer Asjad Mehmud conducted search in sectors these sectors and under constructions buildings also. This team arrested 50 suspects from whom investigation is underway.
PESHAWAR: Local police have recovered a kidnapped schoolchild and arrested four people over the abduction in Peshtakhara area. A spokesman for police on Thursday said Shahzad, 8, was kidnapped in Mankrao area on Sept 5. He said the child’s father, RanaGul, a resident of Mankrao, told police that his son was on the way to school when kidnappers bundled him into a car and drove off. “Kidnappers demanded Rs10 million for the child’s release. Police got a clue of their whereabouts and arrested them before safely recovering the boy,” he said. The spokesman said the alleged kidnappers were Mohammad Shabir, Mir Said, Angoor Shah and Jamal.
LAHORE: At least six culprits involved in multiple armed strikes in different parts of the Punjab Capital were held on Thursday. As per details, two alleged robbers Arshad alias Aaso and his accomplice Ali Raza were rounded up the Liaqatabad Police on Thursday whereas cell phones, cash, gold ornaments and stolen valuables had also recovered from them. Similarly, four proclaimed offenders Muhammad Rafiq, Jehangir alias Jango, Imran and Riaz Hussain were arrested by the Saddar Police on Thursday. During interrogation, the culprits had confessed to committing several crimes in different areas of the City.
TAXILA: Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a district gang of robbers wanted in over 40 armed robberies and recovered looted valuables from their possession. Acting on a tip-off, a police party led by Inspector Ch Zulfiqar Ahmed raided a secret hideout and arrested Atif, Adil, Sadaqat, Usman Farooq and Ghulam Sarwar, involved in over 40 armed robberies in Taxila, Wah, Westridge, Tarnol, Waris Khan, Pirwadhai and recovered 4 snatched mobiles, cash worth Rs40,000, gold ornaments worth Rs0.2 million, 14 mobile phones, 13 coloured TVs and other domestic valuables worth Rs700,000. He said that police also recovered 3 pistols and 4 daggers.
KARACHI: A robber was sentenced to 11 years’ imprisonment by Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) Shahid Hussain Chandio on Thursday. The convict, Amanullah, had snatched cash and a mobile phone from a man, Idrees, at gunpoint in Mithadar police remit on December 28, 2009. When Idrees put up resistance, the robber injured him and fled. The court also imposed a fine of Rs10, 000 and declared that in case of default, the convict would have to face another term of two months’ imprisonment.
