Karachi: Murderer awarded life sentence
KARACHI: Additional District and Sessions Judge (West) Abdullah Channa on Friday convicted a man of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The court observed that the prosecution had successfully proved the murder charge against Muhammad Naeem, who killed Muhammad Kaman on May 13, 2005. A woman, Shamim Akhtar, had lodged a case at the Saeedabad police station, and said Naeem, a fruit seller, had asked another fruit seller, a brother of his sister’s husband, to remove his vending cart from one place to another. A scuffle broke out when Kamran refused to do so.
Naeem then killed Kamran with a sharp–edged knife. Shamim Akhar, sister of Naeem, herself lodged the case against her brother.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 and declared that in case of default on the payment of the fine amount, the convict would have to face another term of six months’ imprisonment.
