Kasur: Suspicion of being informers; 3 bikers shoot boy, injure 6 kiln workers
KASUR: Three motorcyclists shot dead a nine-year-old boy and injured six kiln workers at Rasoolpura in the Sadr police area here on Monday. Muhammad Yasin with his family was having lunch at a kiln, owned by Malik Abdul Majeed, when Tanveer alias Tanveeri involved in several cases with his two accomplices reached there and opened fire at Yasin and other workers. As a result, nine–year–old Ali Raza, son of Yasin, was killed while six workers, including Ahmad Raza, Ghulam Nabi, Niamat Ali and Fazal Karim, were injured and taken to DHQ Hospital. Three of the injured were shifted to a hospital in Lahore due to their critical condition.
After the incident, kiln workers and their families staged a demonstration at Steel Bagh Chowk and blocked Lahore–Kasur Road. They demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. Later on the assurance of the police officers that the accused would be arrested soon, the protesters dispersed. The motive behind the incident is said to be that the accused were suspicious that kiln workers, including Yasin, had informed the police about their criminal activities. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
