Contempt of court; Jaranwala bar ex-president convicted
JARANWALA: Additional Sessions Judge Mian Shahid Mehmood awarded three–month imprisonment to Jaranwala Bar Association former president Syed Shahbaz Haider Shah and fined him Rs 3,000 in a contempt of court case. A heavy contingent of police led by a DSP reached the courts to arrest Syed Shahbaz Haider Shah, but failed to do so after a large number of lawyers gathered there. Meanwhile in an emergent meeting, the Jaranwala Bar Association office-bearers demanded immediate transfer of the judge and the City SHO.
They announced a complete strike till transfer of the judge and the City SHO. The court had earlier confirmed the pre–arrest bail of Syed Shahbaz Haider Shah in a theft case a couple of days ago. On Wednesday, lawyers had gone to the court of the said judge and allegedly used abusive language against him.
