Rawalpindi: Heroin smuggling bid foiled at airport
RAWALPINDI: Custom officials seized approximately four kilograms heroin hidden in a consignment containing T-shirts at Benazir Bhutto International Airport here on Wednesday. According to Nasir Barlas, airport custom focal person, on a tip-off the Custom officials recovered 4-kg of fine quality heroin from a consignment containing T-shirts. He said that the consignment was booked by a Sialkot based company Sum to Sim Enterprises trough Unique Association, Islamabad for South African’s city Johannesburg. “The heroin was found concealed in cotton packs used for packing the clothes or T-shirts during rummaging of the goods at Cargo by Customs officials” he said, adding that an agent Sajjad, associated with Unique Associates.
The heroin is of very fine quality and is million of rupees in the international market, Barlas added. A case has been registered against the culprits and investigation has been started, Custom Focal Person informed.
