Nowshera: Drug smuggling bid foiled
NOWSHERA: Officials of the Customs Intelligence foiled a drug–trafficking bid and seized 95 kilograms hashish from a car near Rashakai Interchange on the Peshawar–Islamabad Motorway on Thursday, official sources said. Talking to reporters, Deputy Superintendent Custom Intelligence Squad Peshawar, KhwajaIqbal said acting on a tip-off the officials of the Customs Intelligence barricaded the Motorway near Rashakai Interchange and signalled a car of the Islamabad Police to stop.
He said the driver was in police uniform while another person was in the uniform of superintendent of police. The official said the occupants of the car did not stop and the Customs officials chased the vehicle. The driver and his accomplice abandoned the car on the roadside and fled, he said, adding that 95 kilograms hashish, fake documents and number plates were seized from the car.
