Marriage dispute claims 3 lives in Okara
OKARA: Three people were killed in a dispute over marriage at 38/2R village on Friday night. Muhammad Irshad Arain had proposed to marry his son Naveed to Amna Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Sadiq Arain, of the same village, but the proposal was refused. Later, Amna was married to her cousin Muhammad Rashid, son of Muhammad Sharif, and the couple started living in Basti Rehmatpura, Okara. Rashid and Amna with their eight-month-old son Abdul Hadi were returning to their home after meeting their parents when Naveed, son of Irshad, intercepted them near Choti Masjid of the village and opened fire at Rashid, killing him on the spot.
Amna raised an alarm, but the accused shot him dead. Abid, brother of Amna, was standing beside the bodies when Nadeem, brother of Naveed, reached there, picked up the pistol and opened fire at Abid who died on the spot. In the meanwhile, Hadisa Bibi, mother of Amna, took her daughter and grandson to her house, but Nadeem chased and shot injured her. Later, he managed to escape. The Okara Sadr police shifted the bodies to DHQ Hospital. On Saturday, the bodies were buried after autopsy.
