Mingora: Jirga members, SHO sent to Timergara jail
MINGORA: A local court on Sunday sent a station house officer (SHO) and 10 members of a jirga to the Timergara Jail as they had asked the family of a 12–year old girl to give her in swara to settle some dispute. The jirga members included Khan Rehman, Barkat Ali, Luqman Shah, Abbas, Taj Mohammad Khan, Mian Sher Ali, Rozi Khan, Janay and Shamsher Ali. The Sangota Police Station’s SHO Hashim Ali was also jailed.
A brother of the girl, Naziyat, had allegedly raped the daughter of one Rozi Khan who had arranged the jirga. The jirga decided that a sister of the alleged rapist be given to the rival party to settle the dispute. But the brothers of Naziyat refused to accept the verdict of the jirga, which reportedly took place at the Sangota Police Station.
