Lahore: NAB files reference against oil mill owner
LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab chapter on Monday filed a reference in Accountability Court against Umar Hayat and others, owners of an oil mill in Kasur, on the charges of misappropriation of Rs.109.019 million by cheating the public at large. As per reference details, an investigation was authorized by the NAB against above mentioned accused on receipt of numerous complaints, mostly from district Kasur. The investigation revealed that the accused, Umar Hayat, had received money from general public for investment in running business of his oil mill by luring the investors for inflated profits on monthly basis. The accused disappeared from the scene after collecting Rs. 109.019 million invested by the public at large which resulted in registration of FIRs against the accused with the local police station.
The NAB, during investigation, collected 236 claims through advertisement in the press and the accused was arrested on January 16 for interrogation. After detail scrutiny of record and collection of incriminating evidence, the NAB completed the investigation and filed Reference No. 23/2012 in the accountability court.
