Rawalpindi: Notorious dacoit among 9 arrested: SP
RAWALPINDI: Police have netted again the notorious dacoit, who escaped from Adyala Jail using fake court documents two months ago. Similarly, some eight members of a criminal gang involved in several incidents were also arrested by police, disclosed SP Potohar Division Syed Haseeb Shah at a press conference at Police Station Westridge on Monday. Police also recovered the weapons from the gang members, he added. DSP Cannt Circle and Station House Officer (SHO) Westridge Malik Allah Yar and other raiding members were also present on the occasion. According to him, PS Westridge officials, after hectic efforts, arrested the notorious dacoit Sharjeel Bhatti, who got released from Adyala Jail on August 13, 2012 by submitting fake court orders of an Additional District and Session Judge. He hailed the services of raiding police party.
He added that PS Westridge officials also handcuffed the 8 members of gang involved in dacoities, house robberies and many other crimes in Rawalpindi and Peshawar. The criminals identified as Maqsood, Amir, Aurangzeb, Fazal, Sharjeel, Amir, Usman and Shakeel.
Police recovered 4 pistols of 30 bore with 17 bullets from their possession. SP was of view that during the interrogation the criminals confessed some 90 robberies in Rawalpindi and Peshawar whereas more revelations were also expected.
