Islamabad: 8 held in bank dacoity case
ISLAMABAD: It took almost nine months for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police to trace and arrest a gang of dacoits, who had allegedly looted a bank, situated in Ali Pur Farash Town of Islamabad, last year. Crime Investigation Agency of ICT on Thursday claimed to have arrested eight accused including a gang of dacoits involved in looting the bank in metropolis of Islamabad last year. According to a spokesperson of ICT police, the dacoits were identified as Haris s/o Abdul Karim, resident of Shahdra, and Imran, s/o Abuld Malik, resident of Ameen Plaza Nai Abadi Dhamial Camp, Rawalpindi. “The accused have confessed to their crime during interrogation,” Zia Bajwa,” the spokesperson claimed.
According to him, the accused had looted the HBL at Ali Pur Firash Town on November 20, 2011. The case no.447 under section 302/396 PPC was registered at Koral police station and the dead person was identified as Faheem s/o Abdul Karim. Investigation into the case was transferred to CIA following the directions of then SSP Islamabad and a special team was constituted under supervision of In-Charge CIA Bashir Ahmad Noon to trace the culprits.
AAP adds: The police also arrested 22 outlaws from various areas of the city and recovered six pistols, one Kalashnikov from their possession, police said on Thursday.
According to details, Golra police nabbed three accused namely Shahid Ameen, Sajjad Khan and Iftikhar Hussain and recovered one Kalashnikov, two pistols and 27 rounds from their possession.
Bani Gala police arrested Tahir Mehmd and recovered 9-mm pistol and Nilore police apprehended Aamir for having 30–bore pistol.
Shehzad Town police arrested Rifat Mehmood and Yasir Abbssi for possessing two 30–bore pistol and 15 rounds.
On a tip-off, Industrial police raided in various localities in sector I-8/4 and arrested six persons including two women for their alleged involvement in immoral activities.
Cases have been registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is underway.
