Islamabad: Gang involved in looting people outside banks busted
ISLAMABAD: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police has busted a gang involved in looting people coming out of banks after withdrawing money and arrested its two members, the police spokesman said on Thursday. The CIA Police also arrested six other persons involved in different cases. According to details, on November 20, 2011, a man entered into the branch of the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) at Alipur Farash when an important money transaction was in process. The manager of the bank suspected him and asked the guard and duty constable to overpower him after which he tried to escape. His accomplices, waiting for him outside the bank in a Suzuki Mehran car, started firing on the guard and policeman. A bullet hit the suspected man, which resulted in his death. A case (No. 447) under Section 302/396 PPC was registered at the Koral Police Station and the dead man was identified as Faheem, son of Abdul Karim.
The investigation of the case was transferred to the CIA Police following the directions of the SSP Islamabad. A special team was constituted under the supervision of CIA In–Charge Bashir Ahmad Noon to trace the culprits. The team arrested two men identified as Haris, son of Abdul Karim, resident of Shahdra, Lahore, and Imran, son of Abdul Malik, resident of Amin Plaza, Nai Abadi, Dhamial Camp, Rawalpindi. These two men were allegedly involved in the November 20 incident. Their third accomplice had been imprisoned in Mansehra Jail in a similar case.
The nabbed men confessed to looting several people in front of banks and that they had remained jailbirds for their involvement in such activities.
Meanwhile, the CIA Police also arrested two thieves last week, identified as Idrees, son of Sarwar, resident of Street 3, Mohallah Rehmania, Sheikhupura, and Zahid, son of Muhammad Khursheed, resident of Bilal Town, Khanna, Islamabad. These men took away sanitary items worth millions of rupees from the shop of Muhammad Hafeez located along Pindorian–Burma Town Road.
Another man, Khalil Ahmed, son of Yaqub, resident of Gulshan Khudadad Colony, Sector E-11/1, Islamabad, was arrested for allegedly stealing a laptop, four mobile phones and precious watches from the house of Muhammad Umar, son of Muhammad Saleem, resident of Sector G-8/1. A case was registered against him with the Margalla Police on August 5. Police also recovered all stolen items from him and further investigation was in progress.
Police also arrested Manzar Abbas for possessing a 30–bore pistol.
During special vigilance against drug–pushers, the CIA Police arrested Syed Marjan, son of Muhammad Rakhel Khan, resident of Khyber Agency, Ibrar, son of Abdul Majeed, resident of Dhoke Kala Khan, Rawalpindi, after recovery of 7.350 kilograms of hashish from their possession.
