Karachi: Cloth merchant killed
KARACHI: A cloth merchant was killed in PIB Colony in the early hours of Friday, police said. Furrukh Khurram, 30, was sitting near Nagina ice depot where he was killed in a drive-by shooting, said an official at the PIB Colony police station. He added that the victim sustained four gunshot wounds and died on the spot. His body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico–legal formalities. The police quoted a victim’s brother, Kamal Khurram, as saying that they had a cloth shop in Saddar. He told the police that Farrukh stopped at the ice depot as a matter of routine on their way back home on Thursday night.
The police quoted the victim’s brother as saying that he didn’t belong to any political party nor did they receive any extortion call.
Following the murder, tension gripped PIB Colony as shops and markets did not open on Friday morning for normal business.
