Karachi: Man charged with abducting wife granted bail
KARACHI: Additional District and Sessions Judge (West) Abdullah Channa on Friday granted bail before arrest to a man facing charges of kidnapping his own wife. The couple appeared before the court, where Iqra submitted her statement recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code, denying that she was kidnapped by her husband, Arsalan. Iqra’s father, a resident of Surjani Town, had registered an FIR against Arsalan, accusing him kidnapping his daughter on June 28, 2012. He said he had been unable to locate the whereabouts of his daughter since. He had also alleged that his daughter was being “disrespected”.
However, Iqra informed the court that she was neither kidnapped nor disrespected by her husband. She said she married Arsalan of her own will.
Protesting his innocence, Arsalan moved a bail before arrest application and prayed to the court to grant him interim bail. The court allowed him interim bail for a sum of Rs50,000, and directed him to appear on September 21 for the confirmation of the bail.
