Karachi: Custodial death case: 2 policemen sent to jail
KARACHI: A judicial magistrate sent on Monday two policemen to jail on judicial remand in a case pertaining to the custodial death of a robbery suspect. The teenage suspect, Tayyab, picked up by police along with his brother in a robbery case in KausarNiazi Colony, North Nazimabad was allegedly tortured to death on Sept 6 at the Hyderi police station. A case (FIR No 462/12) was lodged against the police constables, Sikandar Ali Channa and Balil Ahmed, under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
On Monday, the investigation officer produced them in court after the expiry of their physical remand. The judicial magistrate (west), Asif Ahmed, sent them to jail on judicial remand till Sept 22 and directed the IO to submit a charge-sheet against them on the next hearing.
