Police kill 2 alleged robbers in Lahore
LAHORE: CIA Iqbal Town police killed two accused robbers involved in killing three persons, including a constable, during an ‘encounter’ near Dongi Ground and recovered a bike and weapons from their custody in the wee hours of Monday. Police removed the bodies to morgue and registered a case against the accused under various sections of PPC and Arms Ordinance. The killed accused were identified as Imran Masih and Muhammad Arshad. They were wanted by the police in more than 150 incidents of dacoity, murder, and street crimes.
CIA SP Umar Virk has claimed that Sub–inspector Maqsood Hayat and ASI Nabeel Shahzad of CIA Iqbal Town were on their way to arrest of PO named Fareed of KuchaChabakSawaraan, Akbari Gate in a murder case No 336/11.
As they reached near RiazFalooda Shop in Iqbal Town, they observed two persons, riding a bike No LEZ/789, coming from Scheme More. The police team signaled them to stop but they opened firing and fled towards Huma Block, Dongi Ground.
The police team chased them and challenged them near Dongi Ground which led to encounter. As the firing stopped, the police team found two accused dead. Police have claimed the accused robbers had killed a constable of Ichara Ali Hassan during an encounter and killed two persons in Lytton Road police limits during a robbery bid.
However, sources have claimed the accused were in the custody of CIA police and they had been killed in a fake encounter. They said the CIA Model Town police had also killed an accused near Nawaz Sharif Park.
