Gujranwala: Murder of boy kidnapped for Rs 5m ransom; 3 kidnappers killed in encounter
GUJRANWALA: Three kidnappers–cum–killers of a five-year-old boy were killed in an encounter with the Wazirabad City police on Tuesday. Khurram, Imbtiaz and Farooq, brick kiln workers and residents of Wanjowali village, had kidnapped five–year–old Shehryar, son of Kuwait-returned Ishtiaq, from Cheema Colony, Wazirabad and demanded Rs five million for his release. However, the deal could not be struck and they killed the boy. The accused continued demanding ransom even after killing the boy. The somehow police arrested the kidnappers and recovered the body from a brick kiln on their pointation.
The police were taking the kidnappers to the crime scene for investigation when their accomplices opened fire at the police and tried to get them released. The police also retaliated. As a result, all the three were killed on the spot. However, the bereaved families alleged that they were killed in a fake encounter. They also claimed that the deceased were innocent.
