Karachi: 20 more fall prey to violence
KARACHI: Crackers attacks, firing at the offices of political parities and target killings continued in the City and claimed lives of at least 20 people here on Tuesday. In the remits of Agra Taj police remit, gunmen sprayed bullets at MQM office and also targeted the office of KatchiRabita Council that left two workers of MQM including Saleem and Naveed dead. Following the incident, panic spread in old city areas and unknown gunmen resorted to aerial firing and suspended the commercial and non-commercial activities. Police suspect Lyari gangsters were behind the attack. In Baldai Town, unknown assailants threw a hand grenade near the MQM unit office that left two passers-by wounded. Unknown gunmen resorted to firing in retaliation of the above incident that wounded three other people. In the remits of Risala Police station, gunmen riding on a motorbike sprayed bullets at the local tea shop which killed Muhammad Akram and wounded three othersl. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained. Police suspect the deceased have been targeted when declined to pay extortion to the gangsters.
In an incident of target killing, Mairaj Noor was shot dead near Al–Hamid School within the remits of KhwajaAjmairNagri police station. Police said the deceased was riding the motorbike when gunmen targeted him and managed to flee. An official of FIA was gunned down in Garden near Atiya hospital within the remits of Al–Falah police station. Police officials said that victim Danish Shabbir was standing outside at Atiya Hospital with his wife and cousin when pillion riders came close and targeted them. Resultantly, Danish received multiple bullets injuries and died on the way to hospital and his cousin Noman was admitted with critical wounds. Police shifted them to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) hospital for post–mortem and treatment. Police have so far been unable to ascertain the motive behind the murder. In another of target killing, an MQM supporter was gunned down near Minan Bazaar within the remits of PIB colony police station. Hanif, 45, son of Rehman was sitting outside his Garments shop where unidentified assailants came close to him and opened firing on him. Resultantly, the victim received multiple bullets injuries and died on the spot. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico–legal formalities. An official of educational department was gunned down in Old Golimar area within the remits of Pak Colony Police Station. Police officials said that the victim Abdul Moin posted as Deputy Director Education in Site Town, left his office and moved for somewhere in his car bearing registration number GL-6116 when gunmen riding a motorbike targeted him near Bismillah hotel situated at Golimar area. Resultantly, Moin received multiple bullet injuries and died on the way to hospital. Police believed that the motive behind the murder is recent wave of target killing because the deceased had an affiliation with Awami National Party. Garden police found three gunny bag bodies of friends from different areas. Police officials said that the bodies were found from Shoe Market, Bagh-e-Salar and Ramswami petrol pump. The victims identified as SherazLiquad, ShafiBaloch and ZafarBaloch. Police shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital Karachi for post–mortem. Police official said the victims were friends and were on their way to homes in zoological park when unidentified culprits picked them up and later threw their bodies in different areas of garden. Police suspect that the spell of ethnic killing was the motive behind the killing of three friends. Pak Colony police found a tortured mark dead body from Orangi riverbed. Police being informed shifted the body to the morgue for identification after autopsy at AbbasiShaheedHospital. Similarly, Memon Goth police found two bodies from Super Highway near Ansari Bridge Rizvia Gareden. Police officials said that victims received multiple bullet injuries. Police said that unidentified culprits kidnapped them from somewhere and later killed and threw the bodies at the said place. Police shifted the bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico–legal formalities later moved to morgue for identification. A milk seller was gunned down in Green Town, Malir within the limits of Al–Falah Police Station. Police officials said that victim identified as ZehshaanGhaffar21, was a resident of same area. Victim was sitting outside his milk shop when two armed riders came close to him and started indiscriminate firing. Resultantly, victim receives multiple bullets injuries and died on the spot. Police handed over the body to his family after completing medico-legal formalities at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Nippier Police found a strangulated body of young man namely Salman Katchi, 26 from SiddiqueWahab road in old city area. Police said culprits kidnapped him before his body was thrown at the said place. Police shifted the body to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy. Separately, a blocks maker was gunned down in Saeedabad 12/C within the remits of Saeedabad police station. Police officials said that victim Rehmat, 32, son of Ghulam Ali, resident of Saeedabad was at his home when above dozen dacoits were entered in Rehmat’s home and killed him over resistance. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. It is pertinent to mention here that three more shot dead bodies were found till the filing of this report.
