Islamabad: Police foil bids to steal weapons
ISLAMABAD: Police claimed to have foiled bids by miscreants to loot weapons from the armoury of Tarnol police Station and vehicles of protesters on Friday. According to a police spokesman, around 4,000 people attacked the Tarnol police station and tried to loot the armoury. He said six policemen, including ASI Sher Mohammad, were injured. Police arrested eight of the attackers, identified as Afghan nationals and locals of Tarnol. They told the investigators that they had attacked the police station to loot the armory and use the weapons against the police in the Red Zone.
In another bid, the police arrested six persons from Red Zone when they tried to steal the motorcycles of some protesters who had run away leaving behind the vehicles due to massive shelling. The police also recovered four motorcycles from them along with other valuables.
The SabziMandi police arrested two Afghan nationals who were stealing scrap from the damaged toll plaza and vehicles at I.J. Principal Road.
