Islamabad: Gang involved in burglary at envoy’s house arrested
ISLAMABAD: The Kohsar police on Monday busted a gang of thieves who had stormed into the residence of the Tunisian ambassador in August and looted Rs 900,000 in cash, a gold watch, two laptops and gold ornaments from the premises. EmanBangarah, an official working with the envoy, had lodged a theft report with the Kohsar Police Station on August 10. Similarly, DrHabiburRehman, a resident of F6/4, had also lodged a theft report with the same police station on September 18. SSP YaseenFarooq, taking serious notice of these theft incidents, assigned the task to SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas to trace out the thieves and recover the stolen items. A special team, under the supervision of SP Ilyas, started their efforts and succeeded in arresting four thieves. They also recovered the stolen valuables from the thieves. Those arrested in this connection have been identified as WasimMasih, NaveedRasheedMasih, Abid Bilal and Asadullah.
Elsewhere in Islamabad, police arrested 11 outlaws from various areas and recovered stolen items, narcotics and weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said on Monday.
According to the spokesman, ASI GhulamRasool from the LoiBher Police Station arrested a thief, TauqeerSaleem, and recovered three stolen mobiles from him.
Similarly, ASI ShahidZaman from Sihala Police Station arrested six thieves – MohsinMazamil, Nadir Riaz, Shaukat Ali, Mustafa, JawadImtiaz and UmerHyat – and recovered stolen items worth Rs 100,000 from them.
The Shalimar and Industrial Area police also arrested two thieves, identified as Bilal Aslam and Saqib, and recovered stolen items from them.
Meanwhile, Sub–Inspector Muhammad Shehbaz arrested LalZamin for possessing 170 grammes of hashish while ASI ManzoorElahi from Bani Gala Police Station nabbed Yaseen who was in possession of a 30-bore pistol. Cases have been registered against the nabbed persons and further investigation is underway from them.
