Karachi: Over 40 suspects arrested in police, Rangers operation
KARACHI: Police and Rangers arrested more than 40 suspects during a search operation in Karachi’s violence-hit areas on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, SAMAA reported. The door-to-door search operation against criminal elements in Gulbarg and Surjani areas followed Wednesday’s sporadic violence which claimed four lives, bringing the death toll to 18 over the past 24 hours. Officials said the law-enforcers cordoning off all entry and exit routes in the two areas and arrested over 40 suspects during snap checking and door-to-door search operation.
Earlier in the night, firing incidents took place at Aisha Manzil, Peoples Chowrangi, Landhi, Malir, Lee Market, Golimar, Dalmia, Korangi Industrial Area, Gulberg and Orangi Town, where 18 people, among them a political party’s office-bearer, were gunned down.
Two dead bodies were recovered from DefenceKhayaban–e–Rahat and Lyari.
Three vehicles were torched in DakKhana, Federal B.Area and Garden areas in reaction to killings in various areas.
