9 dead as unabated killings go on in Karachi
KARACHI: The current spree of sectarian and political killings continue on Thursday along with the violent incidents which claimed nine more lives here. According to details, panic spread across the city following frequent incidents of firing in which at least 25 people have been killed within last 48 hours. Mostly victims of the current wave of violence were either belonged to Shia or Deoband sect. Sectarian violence began in the meantime when killing on ethnic grounds had already created havoc in the metropolis. At least four people were killed when they were out to pick their children from schools. A local leader of defunct Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan was gunned down in an act of sectarian killing at Baloch Colony Bridge within the remits of Tipu Sultan police station. The deceased, Kalim ullah Shaikh, 38, incharge of Shah Faisal Colony was on way to home in a car after a party meeting when some gunmen riding a motorbike targeted him near the bridge. He sustained multiple bullet injuries and rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced him dead. Police sources said that the deceased had detained in jail for at least 8 years in several sectarian cases and released some five years ago.
In reaction of the above said killing, a local leader of PPML-N was shot dead at Abul Hassan Isphahani Road. Deceased Zulqader Shahab was on a car when gunmen riding a motorbike sprayed bullets and managed to flee. Police said that the deceased was affiliated with the PML-N and was killed on sectarian grounds.
Another sectarian murder taken place in New Karachi within the remits of Bilal Colony police station. Police said that deceased Shabbir Hussain was working in Al–Assar Imambargah. He was out to buy some food when gunmen shot him dead. He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
A worker of MQM was gunned down in Orangi Town area within the remits of Iqbal Market police station. Police officials said that victim identified as Muhammad Akram, 32, resident of the same area, was going to drop his son to school on a motorbike when unidentified assailants targeted him. Resultantly, he received multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to his family. After the incident panic engulfed the surrounding area.
Another MQM worker was gunned down in Gao Gali area within the remits of Kharadar police station. Police officials said victim Mobin, 24, was sitting near his residence when unidentified assailants came close to him and shot him. Resultantly, he received multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. Police shifted the body to Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem and later handed over to his heirs. After the incident, tension simmered the area. A man was shot dead in Baldia Yusuf Goth within the limits of Saeedabad police station.
Police officials said that victim Abdul Rehman, 35, resident of same area, was sleeping in his home when four unidentified assailants barged into the home and sprayed bullets on him. Resultantly he died on the spot. After being informed, the police rushed to the spot and shifted the body at CHK for legal–medico formalities and later handed over the body to his family. Police suspected the motive behind the murder was personal dispute. A private company salesman was gunned down in Peoples Chowrangi within the limits of Tehmoria police station. Police officials said that victim Muhammad Siddique, 45, was a salesman in a private company. He was going somewhere from company when unidentified culprits targeted him. Resultantly, he sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the way to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The body was handed over to his family after completing medico legal formalities. A man was shot dead in Aisha Manzil within the remits of Joharabad Police Station. Police officials said victim Qasim Ali, 40, resident of Azizabad was working at a sweets shop where unidentified culprits reached and started indiscriminate fire on him.
Resultantly, he received multiple bullets injuries and died on the spot. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to his family.
Police found a gunny bag body from Defense Phase–6 from an empty plot within the limits of Darakshan police station. Police officials said unidentified culprits kidnapped the victim from somewhere and threw the body after killing at the said place. Police shifted the body to JPMC for postmortem and later moved to morgue for identification.
