Islamabad: Sabzi Mandi Police trace 3 blind murder cases
ISLAMABAD: The Sabzi Mandi Police have traced three blind murder cases and arrested the alleged assassins besides recovering valuables and electronic equipment looted from Islamabad Toll Plaza and other areas during September 21 demonstrations in the city. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Superintendent Police (Industrial Area) Ishaq Warraich said that Sabzi Mandi Police have traced murders committed in its area last month and booked the culprits. He said that special teams under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Police Dr. Khalid Ahmed including SHO Asjad Mehmud and others were constituted to resolve the murder cases. SP Ishaq Warraich said that two dead bodies were found from the slum area in Sector I-10/1, which were later identified as Muhammad Iqbal and Faheema Bibi. Police teams used all available resources and arrested the killers who assassinated them over a family dispute. The nabbed killers have been identified as Sarwar Khan and Muhammad Arif, residents of Swabi.
Another police team resolved the murder case of Hafiz Zahid Rasheed, Muazzin of Jamia Masjid Syed Awais Qarni, who was stabbed to death by two persons as he caught them red-handed while taking away batteries of a mobile tower adjacent to the mosque. The killers have been identified as Faisal Iqbal son of Muhamamd Iqbal, resident of Sector G-11/2 and Shehzad Masih alias Billa, resident of Sector G-7/1.
The SP said that Sabzi Mandi Police team also arrested the culprit who opened indiscriminate firing on the passenger bus on August 31 resulting in death of passenger Raja Khalid Hameed and injuries to others including bus crew. He said that the nabbed person has been identified as Sarfaraz Mushtaq, resident of Pind Dadan Khan, while efforts are underway to arrest his other accomplices.
Meanwhile, he said that Sabzi Mandi Police has arrested a total of 68 persons who tried to damage the police station, public property and looted the electronic items including computer and laptop from the Islamabad Toll plaza.
SP Isahq Warraich announced cash prizes for the police teams and said that names of policemen in these teams will be forwarded to the IGP and SSP for commendation certificates and special awards.
