Nankana Sahib: Petitioner gets life threats
NANKANA SAHIB: A former councilor has alleged that his political opponents were threatened him with dire consequences for getting an attempt to murder case registered against them. Malik Javed, a resident of Sangla Hill, had contested for the councilor seat in the last local bodies elections in 2005 in spite of serious threats from the opponents. Because of his victory, his opponent political group threatened him and his family members. Later, Muhammad Abbas, Muhammad Saddiq and four others the same party allegedly attempted to kill his son Atif Ali by opening fire on bridge of Canal Rekh near Sangla Hill when he was coming to his home on a motorbike but luckily he remained safe.
On the complaint of Atif, police registered an FIR against the accused but soon after that his father Malik Javed received threatening calls over the registration of the FIR against them. Feeling insecurity, Atif left the country and got settled abroad. Javed alleged that the accused party was still forcing and threatening him to withdraw the case otherwise all his family members would be killed, the petitioner alleged.
