Peshawar: Cattle smuggling
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken notice of smuggling of cattle heads, poultry and other food items from the province to Afghanistan and directed the officials to take action against those involved in it. Following the directives of the chief secretary, the home and tribal affairs department on Friday directed the anti-corruption department to probe into smuggling of such items via Kurram Agency to Afghanistan. The anti-corruption director was asked to submit report of the findings to the home and tribal affairs department on urgent basis.
It was stated that the provincial government was making all out efforts to discourage every kind of smuggling which has badly affected the country’s economy in general and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s in particular. The provincial government has instructed the concerned departments and law enforcement agencies to curb the menace. The Peshawar High Court has also taken suomotu notice in this regard.
