Peshawar: Over 20 involved in violence, looting arrested
PESHAWAR: Over 20 more persons suspected to be involved in damaging and looting public and private properties were arrested after they were identified from the CCTV footage on Saturday. Police said they conducted raids in different parts of Peshawar and arrested the suspected men involved in violence and looting. The cops also recovered the looted money and some other goods from them, the officials said. They said the cops had also identified three persons who had looted Rs300,000 from the ATM machine of a bank situated on the Grand Trunk Road during the countrywide protest against the blasphemous film on September 21.
The police said the money was recovered and one of three suspects was arrested. Some other valuables looted from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industries and cinema houses were also recovered.
Raids are being conducted for the last many days to identify and arrest those found involved in looting and damaging public and private properties during the protest rallies against the Satanic film produced in the US recently.
