Karachi: 2 hand grenade attacks conducted
KARACHI: Two hand grenade attacks were carried out in Manghopir and Bhains Colony areas within a time period of two hours, however, no one hurt in the attack, here on Monday. In the first incident, unidentified men hurled two grenades at a crush plant situated in Manghopir area and escaped. A police official said that the crush plant was owned by Hussain. Police further said that according to initial investigations, demand of extortion by some banned religious outfit could be the reason behind the grenade attack.
He said that after getting the information, a heavy contingent of law enforcers reached the scene and cordoned off the area to avoid any untoward incident. He said due to closure of crush plant, no one hurt in the attack.
Similarly, pillion riders threw a hand grenade on a cement shop in Bhains Colony area and ran away. Police said the shop was partially damaged in the attack, while none was injured. He said initial investigation revealed that culprits over denial of protection money hurled grenade. Further investigation was underway.
