2 handed down death in Bahawalpur
BAHAWALPUR: The Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced two kidnappers-cum-murders to death and ordered confiscation of their property besides Rs200,000 fine and 10 years imprisonment each. According to prosecution, Computer Training Centre owner Muhammad Azam and Muhammad Afzal kidnapped 16-year-old Muhammad Junaid, a student of the centre, for ransom.
They demanded Rs5 million for his release but killed the youth following failure of his father to pay the money. The Rahim Yar Khan City B City Division Police registered a case 290/2009 and submitted challan in the Anti-terrorism court Bahawalpur.
ATC Judge Sohail Akram under Section 302PPC handed down death sentence to both the accused. The court also awarded 10 years imprisonment and confiscation of their property under Section 365-A. The court also fined them Rs200,000 under Section 377.
