Cop among 6 shot dead in Karachi
KARACHI: Six people, including a police constable (PC) and a woman, were murdered in separate incidents reported in the city on Tuesday. PC Badar Khan was shot dead in Kamil Gali late on Monday night, said Kharadar police. Station House Officer (SHO) Khan Mohammed said that PC Khan was posted at the Kalri police station.
On Monday night, after completing his job he was heading home when some unidentified men started chasing the cop. On sensing danger, Khan tried to lose the suspects by driving his motorcycle into Kamil Gali, but unfortunately was caught up by the culprits, who opened fire on him and two passers-by and fled.
The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), where PC Khan breathed his last on Tuesday morning, while the other sustained. The cop had suffered four bullet wounds to his upper torso and two to his head.
The SHO said that police found 9mm and 30-bore pistols bullet casings at the scene of the crime, which were sent to Sindh Police Laboratory for forensic tests.
Investigators said the PC was receiving death threats from Lyari gangsters, and it seemed that the same elements had targeted him.
A police informant and the owner of a general store, Inayatullah, was gunned down in Ghausia Colony, said New Town police.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nasir Lodhi said that the 19-year-old was the resident of the same area.
He was present at his store when two armed men motorcyclists opened random fire, injured him and fled. He was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim had suffered three bullet wounds to his head and a single to his neck. Moreover, the police also found 9mm pistol bullet shells at the crime scene.
Investigators said that Inayatullah might have been targeted for being an informant.
An employee of a cloth shop in Saddar, Waqas, 24, was shot dead in the Garden area, said SHO Fateh Sheikh.
On Tuesday evening, Waqas was riding his motorcycle in Ram Swami Area when two unidentified armed motorcyclists sprayed him with bullets and fled.
He was taken to the CHK, where he expired. The victim had suffered two bullet wounds to his head, which became the cause of his death. Police found 9mm pistol bullet shells at the spot.
KRC member targeted
Investigators termed the murder of Waqas as a part of the recent spate of target killing. A resident of Ranchor Lane, he was affiliated with a political party. A case was reported and investigation is underway.
Farhan Kacchi, 22, was in a barbershop Lyari Moosa Lane when two men barged in and opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.
The deceased was a member of the Kacchi Rabta Committee (KRC). Police Farhna’s murder was a targeted incident.
Two killed in robbery
A man and a woman were shot dead by bandits for offering resistance during an attempted robbery in Quaidabad police limits.
Aurangzeb, his wife Reshma, 45, and his brother Ameerzada were in their vehicle near Amina Textile Mill in Firdous Charli when they were intercepted by two armed motorcyclists, who then tried to rob them. The two men ried to resist the bandits, to which the suspects opened fire, injuring all three passengers.
The injured were rushed to the JPMC, where Reshma and Ameerzada were pronounced dead on arrival. The suspects are still at large.
