Islamabad: 518 outlaws arrested this year
ISLAMABAD: The Margalla Police have arrested 518 criminals, including 90 absconders and proclaimed offenders, during the current year and recovered a total of 23 vehicles, four kilograms of narcotics, 500 bottles of wine, 16 pistols and valuables worth Rs14.3 million from their possession, the police spokesman said. Police also arrested four kidnappers identified as Ramzan, Khizer, Nasir and Hayat Shah and recovered abducted persons, weapons as well as ransom money from them. Six criminals involved in robbery incidents were apprehended besides recovery of gold ornaments and cash from them.
As many as 37 auto-thieves were arrested and 23 stolen as well as tampered with vehicles were recovered from them. As many as 35 drug–pushers and bootleggers were nabbed besides recovery of two kilograms of hashish, two kilograms of heroin and 500 wine bottles from them.
Other criminals in possession of weapons, daggers and 43 proclaimed offenders and 47 court absconders were also arrested during the period. IGP (Islamabad) Bani–Amin Khan has appreciated the performance and announced cash prizes as well as commendation certificates for the policemen for ensuring effective policing.
