Karachi: 15 guards with criminal record detected
KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Fayyaz Ahmed Laghari was informed on Friday that 15 private security guards were detected with criminal record during the examination of credentials of more than 1500 guards under a pilot project of forensic division. During a meeting at Central Police Office Karachi, presided over by IGP Sindh, Additional IG Forensic Division Sindh Munir Sheikh said that forensic division under its pilot project examined credentials of over 1,500 private security guards, working in banks and other institutions of Karachi and detected 15 of them with criminal records.
IGP directed relevant police officials to verify credentials of all private security guards employed by security agencies under ‘Automated Fingerprints Identification System’ (AFAS). Fayyaz also directed police to vet the biodata of house servants working in different housing societies, including Defence Housing Society. AIG FD informed IGP that the process of fingerprints registration of prisoners was also underway for up-gradation of database.
