Karachi: Policeman sent to jail in fake encounter case
KARACHI: Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) Jalaluddin Soomro on Monday ordered the arrest of a policeman who along with several of his colleagues allegedly detained, tortured and later killed a man in a fake police encounter. The policeman, Abdul Latif Shar, a co-accused in the Muhammad Ali murder case, kept moving bail applications in courts and his last bail plea was rejected by the Supreme Court. He then came back to the trial court that also rejected his bail application and ordered him to be arrested and sent to jail.
The murder case of Ali, son of Yousuf Advocate, was registered at the Ferozabad police station in 2010. Absconding assistant sub-inspector Faisal Jaffery along with constables of the Baloch Colony police station, had tortured and killed Ali on December 28, 2010.
