Cheque dishonour case; Accused flees from Khanewal court
KHANEWAL: An accused of a cheque dishonour case escaped from court allegedly with the help of the City police. Muhammad Rashid alias Rashid bin Ameer had issued a cheque for Rs 2 million to Ch Khalid Mehmood to clear his debt, but the cheque was bounced. Khalid approached the City police and got registered a case (134/12) against Muhammad Rashid under section 489-F of the PPC. Later, the police and a civil judge declared the accused absconder.
Rashid applied for pre–arrest bail in the court of the district and sessions judge, but he withdrew it and escaped from the court in the presence of the police. Ch Khalid Mehmood alleged that ASIs Manzoor and Fayyaz of the City police had helped the accused to flee from the court. When contacted, ASIs Manzoor and Fayyaz said that they had not arrested the accused under pressure from City SHO Zulfiqar Aulakh and DSP Shahid Niaz. However, DSP Shahid Niaz denied the allegations.
