Jhang: 323 POs nabbed in September
JHANG: On the special direction of RPO Faisalabad Division, the Jhang police launched a crackdown on anti–social elements across the district. During crackdown, the district police nabbed 323 notorious proclaimed offenders in the month of September out of which 55 were of A-category who were involved in murder, abduction for ransom, dacoity, highway robbery and other cases and another 268 were of B-category. This was disclosed by DPO Akhter Umer Hayat Lalika while addressing an open court here the other day. The DPO said that during the same period, 61 court absconders and 5 army deserters were also arrested.
He further said that two inter–districts gangs, involved in murder, decoity, abduction for ransom and highway robberies were busted by the police. The police also recovered stolen money worth Rs8.7 million from their possession, he added. He said that under illegal Arms Possession Act, 98 cases were registered while four Kalashnikovs, 14 rifles, 24 guns, 75 revolvers and pistols, 5 carbines and 395 cartridges were also recovered from their possession. The DPO further said that under Narcotics Act, total 45 cases were registered and 3.826-kg of heroin, .544–kg of hashish and 432 bottles of liquor were recovered while six working stills were also unearthed. The DPO said that the police had also recovered an amount of 11.50 million from the culprits. He vowed to purge the department of corrupt officials. On the occasion, the DPO also listened to different complaints in open court and issued orders on the spot.
