Rawalpindi: Parents booked on charges of torturing daughter to death
RAWALPINDI: Police booked family members of a young woman, including her father, mother and brothers, after a medical report confirmed her death due to torture. The woman was killed in the house of her parents in May last year, police said. The husband of the deceased Huma, daughter of Abdus Sattar, lodged a complaint with the Airport Police Station after the death of his wife. He claimed that she was tortured to death by his in-laws on May 26, 2011. The postmortem of the deceased was conducted and her viscera (pieces of brain, heart, lungs, liver, intestines, spleen and kidneys) was sent for chemical examination to ascertain the cause of her death. Later, the medical examination report confirmed that torture caused her death.
Police, following the medical report, registered a case against her father Abdus Sattar, mother Shamim Akhtar and brothers and a sister, Abdul Latif, Abdul Waqar and Ms Tazeem, under Section 302/34 and started investigation.
