Islamabad: Customs official survives attempt on life
ISLAMABAD: Superintendent Customs was wounded when two gunmen opened fire at his car when he left his house at Bani Gala for his office on Thursday morning. The victim was shifted to PIMS hospital where he was operated upon and bullets were taken out of his body. His condition is stated to be stable after the surgery. The Customs authorities, terming its an attack by the drug mafia, said the victim had conducted many raids in the last few days and recovered huge quantities of narcotics and arrested big guns of the mafia.
On Thursday morning at around 9:00 am, Zarghem Dil, Superintendent Customs (Preventive), Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad, while on his way to office in his car, was intercepted by two gunmen riding a bike at Koran Road falling in the jurisdiction of the Secretariat Police Station, and opened fire at his car and ran away after injuring him, the police said, adding that bullets pierced his left arm.
