Burewala: 2 robbers, villager killed in shootout
BUREWALA: Three people, including two robbers, were killed in an exchange of firing at Chak 445/EB in the wee hours of Saturday. Former councilor Khushi Muhammad Khokhar was sleeping with his family when seven robbers forced their entry into their house, held them hostage and demanded keys of the rooms. The dacoits opened fire in the air when they offered resistance. In the meantime, Haji Dur Muhammad, nephew of the house owner, reached there with a pistol and opened fire at the dacoits, killing one of them on the spot and injuring two others.
The dacoits also retaliated, killing Haji Dur Muhammad. The dacoits collected valuables and fled towards Luddan Road with their injured colleague. Burewala DSP Mazhar Ahmad Wattoo, SHO Nadir Khan Baloch and other police officials reached the spot and chased the dacoits who fled after throwing the body of another robber in fields at Chak 327/EB. The three bodies have been shifted to Burewala THQ Hospital for autopsy. However, the dacoits could not be identified till the filing of this report.
Meanwhile, citizens have expressed their concern over rising dacoities in the area. They said that dacoits were looting people fearlessly, but the police were doing nothing to check them.
