Lahore: Dacoits strike 15 times in City
LAHORE: Dacoits on Monday hit the provincial metropolis for 15 times, shot at and wounded a youth on resistance, robbed residences, looted families, and fled away after collecting cash and valuables worth Rs four millions, police sources said. Two motorcyclists held up one Rashid at gunpoint in Nawan Kot police precincts and demanded cash and mobile phone. As the youth offered resistance, they hit him in the head with the butt of a pistol and snatched away cash and valuables. The youth was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Robbers barged into the house of Tassadaq in Kot Lakhpat police vicinity and took away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs800,000 after holding the inmates’ hostage at gunpoint. Four gunmen stormed into the house of Firdous Khan in the limits of Factory Area police and snatched away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs one million. The police are investigating.
In other house robberies, which took place in Misri Shah, Manga Mandi, Barki, Harbanspura, and Gulshan-e-Ravi police areas, armed bandits snatched away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth Rs two millions.
Robbers also held up families at gunpoint in Mustafabad, Lytton Road, and Green Town police areas and took away cash and valuables worth Rs300,000.
Meanwhile, three cars were driven away from Lower Mall, Iqbal Town and Johar Town police vicinities. Four motorcycles were also stolen away from Shadman, Muslim Town, Nishtar Colony and Wahdat Colony police limits.
Meanwhile, a 50-year-old motorcyclist was killed when a rashly driven car smashed into his two-wheeler at Jail Road in Shadman area, police said on Monday night. The deceased man was later identified as Muhammad Aslam. The police are investigating. Also, a 20-year-old labourer was electrocuted to death in Sabzazar area. Police said that Imran was working at a house when he touched electric wires and received severe electric shocks.
