Karachi: Another policeman found shot dead
KARACHI: Another policeman was found shot dead in Lyari on Wednesday only a day after a constable posted in the special branch of police was gunned down in the area, officials said. The two murders on consecutive days brought the number of policemen killed in the city during the current year to 70. Resident of Ghulam Shah Lane, Lyari, 40–year–old wireless operator of the Kalri police station Mohammad Zaheer was kidnapped before being shot dead, said Kalakot SHO Javed Baloch.
The SHO said that Zaheer had left home for work on Tuesday evening but did not reach the Kalri police station. In the early hours of Wednesday, he was found shot dead in the Lea Market area.
The victim was shot twice in the head, the police said, adding that his body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico–legal formalities. The victim was father of three, the police said.
They suspected involvement of gangsters in the murder, observing that he had served at different police stations in Lyari before being posted at the Kalri police station four months ago.
