Karachi: Trader, cop among 5 shot dead
KARACHI: Five people, including a trader and a policeman, were killed in separate incidents in the city on Wednesday. Gul Jan (40) was gunned down near Cheel Chowk in Kalakot police remit in the night. Some residents shifted his body to the Civil Hospital Karachi. SHO Jawed said that Gul Jan was residing in Old Haji Camp and running a cloth shop in the same area. He had come to Cheel Chowk area in the night when two men, riding a motorcycle, came across him and sprayed him with bullets.
The victim suffered 13 to 14 bullets on various parts of his body. Police seized empty shells of a 9mm pistol from the scene for forensic test.
Police said that Gul Jan’s murder seems to be a part of target killing, however, they were investigating as to whether the victim was receiving death threats from any extortionist group or he had some enmity.
The body of Head Constable (HC) Zahir Khan was recovered from near the Hub Chowki bus stand, Lea Market, in Kalakot police limits. The corpse was moved to the CHK for a postmortem.
SHO Jawed Baloch said HC Zahir Khan was posted at the Kalri police station as wireless operator. He had left his residence in Naipier area on Tuesday night for duty and he was on his way to the Kalri police station when unidentified armed men kidnapped him and later tortured him to death.
The victim suffered one bullet wound to his head and two to his chest. Zahir Khan has left behind a widow, two daughters and a son.
Ishaq Hussain was shot dead at Nagina Hotel, Jackson Market, in Jackson police limits in the evening
According to SHO Faryad Hussain Bhatti, the deceased was a lab technician at Ziauddin Hospital’s X-Ray Department residing at Ziauddin Quarters.
He was taking tea with a friend at Nagina Hotel in the evening when two bike riders came to Ishaq and after exchanging hot words with him they opened fire at him. He was moved to Ziauddin Hospital where he breathed his last.
Hussain received bullet wounds to his upper torso. Police said it would be too early to ascertain the motive behind Ishaq’s murder as to whether he was targeted or killed in some enmity.
Syed Aga Khalid was gunned down in Pak Colony area in the evening.
According to SHO Abdul Waheed Awan, deceased Khalid was residing in Guru Mandir area and he belonged to Ahly Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ).
He was returning to his home on his motorcycle after attending the funeral of the party’s slain workers Omer and Ikram, who were killed in Soldier Bazaar area on Tuesday night,
When Khalid was passing through Love Lane Bridge, unidentified bike riders came across him and opened fire on him. He was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital where his condition was said to be highly critical. According to reports Khalid breathed his last on Wednesday night, however, the police did not confirm this till the filing of this report.
Meanwhile, the bullet–riddled body of an unidentified man was recovered the bushes in Chota Goth at Goondah Pass in Manghopir police limits.
It was shifted to the AbbasiS haheed Hospital for post mortem and a message was also aired on police control, however, the victim remained unidentified till the filing of this report.
