LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation authorities on Thursday seized heroin, said an official. He said 1.4kg heroin was seized in the Gawalmandi police limits. The arrested was named as Shahbaz. In another raid, a team sealed a factory over liquor manufacturing in Nawan Kot police limits. The team also recovered 30litre liquor. The E&T officers arrested both the accused and registered cases against them, further investigation is underway.
RAWALPINDI: The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) on Thursday arrested a passenger from the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) who was carrying 100 heroin-filled capsules in his stomach. According to the ANF, a passenger of the Oman–bound flight WY–326, identified as Rashid Ali, son of Najam Khan, hailing from Swabi, bearing passport number KP–1803091, was intercepted by the ANF personnel at the counter and taken to the ANF office after preliminary questioning. Later, he was sent to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital for X-ray where 100 capsules filled with heroin were recovered from his stomach.
KARACHI: Teams of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested four members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban and an activist of a political party in two raids in the city on Thursday. The Anti–Extremism Cell (AEC) apprehended the TTP men in the Manghopir area for their alleged involvement in extortion cases. While, the activist was held for his role in more than eight target killings. SSP CID Chaudary Aslam told the News that after receiving a tip-off, a team raided the hideout of the TTP men in Sultanabad. On seeing the police, the criminals opened fire which was replayed by the police. During the brief encounter, the officials arrested Syed Abdul Jabbar alias Aga, Arif Nawaz, Rayees Khan and Ismail.
LAHORE: The City Division police claim to have arrested five members of the Ghamu dacoit gang, including its ringleader, and recovered snatched motorbikes from their possession. City Division SP Operations Multan Khan told the media on Thursday the nabbed criminals wanted to transport motorcycles to Peshawar to sell them at a throwaway price, but the police foiled their attempt. He said a police team, headed by Shafiqabad Circle DSP Aftab Phularwan, was sent to the Old Ravi Bridge on the basis of an information that the criminals were transporting some motorbikes on a truck to Peshawar.
BAHAWALPUR: Two guards of PML-N MNA Ch Saud Majeed were allegedly caught with arms and handed over to Cantt Police after being beaten up by Ohd Biradri women in Bhatta-2 on Ahmadpur East Road. The guards were identified as Kashif Sohail and Imran. They allegedly entered the house of Ohd Biradri after firing in the air. They harassed the women in the house. The women and their men overpowered the accused and beat them and later handed over then to the police.
PAKPATTAN: Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Iram Ayaz on Thursday convicted two police officials in a murder case. The court awarded three–year imprisonment to DSP Arshad Chachar and seven–year imprisonment and Rs 100,000 fine to ASI Muhammad Ashraf. The court acquitted Constable Maqsood, giving him the benefit of the doubt, and declared Inspector Asif Khan and ASI Ilyas proclaimed offenders in the murder case. The prosecution said that the convicts had tortured Allah Ditta of Chak 82/D to death sometime ago.
RAWALPINDI: Police arrested a murder accused on Thursday. The weapon used in killing was also recovered, informed SHO Azhar Shah. According to him, the killer Amir Khan, who was running a grocery shop with business of easy load at Hazara Colony, gunned down Shahid Amin on November 20, 2012 on the issue of a mobile phone SIM. Police also obtained the remand of the killer from area magistrate, he added. Meanwhile, four unknown robbers equipped with weapons stormed into an auto spare parts shop located at Messi Gate on Adam Jee Road and made off with cash.
KARACHI: A man was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday after he was found guilty of kidnapping, raping and murdering a minor girl in 2006. Additional District and Sessions Judge (East) Nadeem Ahmed Khan awarded two separate 25–year sentences – one for kidnapping and the other for rape and murder – to a man named Irshad. Besides the prison term, the court also decided to fine the convict Rs160,000 for the crimes he committed against five–year–old Tajalee, the daughter of Zahid Barkat Shah. According to the law, the convict was liable to be awarded a total of 50 years imprisonment for his heinous acts.
OKARA: A girl was abducted and released here. Sahiba Bibi d/o Riaz Moghal of Mohallah Sultan Shah went to a shop to buy something but did not return two days ago. Her family searched for her everywhere but failed to find her. Later, some villagers told Riaz that his daughter was allegedly abducted by Abdur Razzaq and his accomplices. On Thursday, Riaz was informed that his daughter was standing near Hussnain Morre. Riaz reached there and brought back his daughter. Shahbore police have registered a case.
LAHORE: Chung police claimed to have arrested the accused persons involved in the killing of a factory owner six months back. According to the SHO, Deen Muhammad was killed six months back at Eden Villas, Canal Road. He said they arrested the victim’s two employees Imran and Muhammad Iqbal, who are real brothers. He said they had confessed to the crime, saying that they killed him to take hold of his factory.
