Karachi: Killings spree continues; 2 cops among 4 shot dead
KARACHI: Two cops were gunned down in separate acts of target killing in different parts of the City on Wednesday. A cop was gunned down near Al Haider Sindh Balochistan Hotel within the precincts of Memon Goth police station. Police said that a cop namely Mohammad Rafiq, 35, son of Atta Mohammad, a resident of Malir went to hotel for investigation purpose of any case, when two armed riders came close to him and sprayed bullets on him. Resultantly, he sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. Police rushed on the spot after getting information and shifted the body at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and later handed over to his family.
A personnel of the Anti–Extremist Cell of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), was killed in Block 15, Gulistan-e-Jauhar within the jurisdiction of Shara-e-Faisal police station. Police said that the deceased was identified as Saeed Mansoori,45, son of Yasin Mansoori. According to the AEC chief SSP Chaudhry Aslam Khan, the deceased due to the intelligence duty was working as a teacher for physical training at a private school in Gulistan–e-Jauhar and was gunned down in an act of target killing. He was posted to AEC from the last two years. SSP Khan said that deceased was given task to collect information about militant and extortionist elements in Gulistan–e–Jauhar and its surrounding areas and the same elements are behind his killing.
Meanwhile, Shara-e-Faisal police said that the two armed men riding a motorcycle were busy in looting the passerby woman, when the victim offered resistance upon which, the culprits fired at him. Resultantly, he received multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot, while a security guard of the school, namely Mumtaz was injured. Meanwhile, two more people were gunned down in separate acts of violence on Wednesday. Shabbir, 54, son of Saifuddin belonging to Bohra community was gunned down in North Karachi locality.
The Victim’s body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico–legal formalities. The deceased used to run a hardware shop in North Karachi locality and the incident took place when he accompanied by a friend, namely Ali, on a motorcycle was returning to home from the shop. He was the father of two children and lived in North Nazimabad area. Police officials said that deceased Basheer was shot once in his head and died at the spot, adding that the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained. An elderly woman was killed while three of her family members were wounded in an armed attacked at their house in Baldia Town within the limits of Mochko Police Station.
The deceased was identified as 70-year-old Zulqaro Bibi, 70. Her daughter, namely Jan Bibi and two grandsons, namely Shahid Ayaz, 13, and Ashfaq, 10, were also injured in the attack. The deceased and injured were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi for autopsy and medical treatment. Police officials said that they have arrested two of victims’ neighbourers, namely Khalid and Abdullah for attacking the victims’ house over personal dispute and initiated further investigation.
